Measuring Change

Good clinical care requires that clinicians monitor client progress. In addition to feeling better, we’ll track your progress using measurement-based tools.

You’ll submit two completed assessments called the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) at the end of each session, right from your client portal.

We’ll discuss your results at the beginning of each session together. I want you to be actively involved in the direction your therapy takes. Take a look at what each assessment specifically measures.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7)

It is a 7 item questionnaire used to assess symptom categories associated with stress or anxiety. This assessment helps you better understand the frequency, intensity, and impact of any symptoms you may be experiencing.

Over time, you’ll be able to understand your overall level of anxiety symptoms, any changes to those symptoms, and the impact of those symptoms on your functioning.

It also tracks your day-to-day functioning over time. You’ll answer three questions about day-to-day functioning and one question about symptoms. The final scores show your perspective of how you’re functioning has changed over the last 2 weeks.

Personal Health Questionnaire (PHQ9)

It is a 9 item questionnaire used to assess symptoms associated with depression. This tool will help you better understand the frequency, intensity, and impact of any symptoms you may be experiencing.

Over time, you’ll be able to understand your overall level of depressive symptoms, symptom changes and the impact of those symptoms on your functioning. You’ll answer nine questions about a range of depressive symptoms. The final scores show your perspective of how you’re functioning has changed over the last 2 weeks.
