Houston Psychotherapist and Entrepreneur Kisha Walwyn Accepted into Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business Spring 2026 Cohort

Houston, Texas — 02/20/2026 — Kisha Walwyn, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and Founder of The Optimistic Counseling Practice, PLLC, has been selected for the prestigious Spring 2026 Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program— a highly competitive initiative recognizing Black women entrepreneurs with demonstrated business impact, scalability, and leadership potential.

The Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women initiative invests in the long-term growth of Black women-owned businesses through access to business education, capital pathways, and high-level strategic mentorship.

“As a solo-entrepreneur and a psychotherapist, this acceptance represents more than a business milestone for me,” said Walwyn. “It validates the urgent need for accessible mental health care and underscores that building a strong business foundation is itself an act of service to the communities I serve.”

Founded in 2019, The Optimistic Counseling Practice is a Texas-based telehealth practice specializing in culturally responsive therapy for professional women experiencing workplace Imposter Syndrome, anxiety, depression, and burnout. Since its inception, The Optimistic Counseling Practice has served over 750 clients across Texas and delivered more than 12,000 therapy sessions.

The Optimistic Counseling Practice is now entering a strategic growth phase that extends its impact beyond individual therapy. Expansion efforts include digital therapeutic products, local government and agency contracts, corporate wellness summits, and subscription-based wellness offerings — all designed to make mental health support more accessible, scalable, and sustainable for professional women nationwide.Through community mental health education, the practice works to reduce barriers to care and decrease stigma surrounding mental health.

Participation in the Spring 2026 cohort will accelerate this next chapter, providing the Optimistic Counseling Practice with the tools, networks, and resources to expand infrastructure, deepen digital reach, and increase access to high-quality mental health services across the country.

A first-generation Caribbean American and Houston native, Walwyn brings more than 15 years of experience in behavioral health — spanning managed care, public speaking, healthcare quality systems. Her focus is helping professionals move from employment-based survival mode into confident, visible leadership by dismantling the internal and systemic barriers that fuel workplace Imposter Syndrome.
